MEET THE MODEL: Simonetta... - 80s & 90s Supermodels - Facebook
Simonetta Gianfelici is the face of AltaRoma. Overseeing both the Showcase exhibition, which is dedicated to highlighting the work of young designers, and the Who Is On Next? Rome has naturally established itself as a launch pad for emerging talents Simonetta Gianfelici is the face of AltaRoma. This also includes foreign designers who have chosen to integrate Italian production because of its standards of excellence.
It was in Rome that Italian haute couture was emancipated; and even though the great historical houses no longer show here today, Rome remains connected the desire for couture. AltaRoma is naturally and beneficially influenced by Roman culture in design, cinema, and fashion. Like fashion, AltaRoma needs this permanent renewal. A proud focus on quality and Italian artisan tradition has been a common note.
Fabrics are now more and more often recovered from the past and revisited in a modern concept in respect of the product and tailoring tradition. Is that so? Altaroma becomes a space where multiple creative minds can express themselves and compare their visions, transforming this experience into a moment of personal and brand research and development.
This field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged. Even today, she lends her image to fashion as a testimonial. Furthermore, the union of many artists and craftsmen with different backgrounds gives life to an exchange of ideas and visions that generate an important personal and professional growth in their training path.

The choice to give space to young emerging designers involves an inevitable research process, continuous concept renewal, and the creation of creative inputs for our kids is the cornerstone of each edition. For over ten years, the city has been repositioning itself on the Italian fashion scene, and Simonetta Gianfelici is one of the main instigators in this.
This dynamic allows visitors to discover the many facets of the city and its districts, and also allows us to renew our image for each edition. Stay in the know and take your weekly dose of cultural news directly in your mailbox! When personalities of a certain depth are missing, you realize what they have left you but at the same time you have the opportunity to metabolize and internalize what you can and really want to pass on to others.
What did it mean for you, an eighties and nineties fashion icon, committed to conscious and visionary fashion, both from a personal and professional point of view? Rome is undoubtfully at the heart of Altaroma project. A future built on a precious past, is the feeling correct? We have also started to introduce streetwear brands that have a younger image and consider clothing as a means of expression, as well as some brands that stand out for their commitment to sustainable development and eco-responsible production.
I very much believe in positive contamination between foreign designers who oversee the creative direction of Italian historical houses and young Italian designers who have studied abroad and choose Italian manufacturing production. However, I think that moving AltaRoma around is a richness that is very stimulating.
